Educador, nascido em Milton, Vermont, em 17 de dezembro de 1808; falecido em Worcester, Massachusetts, em 28 de maio de 1876. Formou-se na Universidade de Vermont em 1827 e foi admitido na ordem dos advogados em 1831. Posteriormente, estudou teologia e foi reitor de uma Igreja Episcopal em St. Albans, Vermont, de 1834 a 1837. Em 1837, tornou-se professor de línguas antigas no Delaware College, em Newark, Delaware, e em 1845 ocupou a mesma cátedra na Universidade da Pensilvânia, na Filadélfia, onde posteriormente foi professor de grego. Converteu-se ao catolicismo em 1847.
Educator, born at Milton, Vermont, 17 December, 1808; died in Worcester, Massachusetts, 28 May, 1876. He was graduated at the University of Vermont in 1827, and admitted to the bar in 1831. Later, he studied theology, and was rector of an Episcopal church at St. Albans, Vermont, from 1834 to 1837. In 1837, he became professor of ancient languages in Delaware College, at Newark, Delaware, and in 1845, he held the same chair at the University of Pennsylvania, at Philadelphia, where he was afterwards professor of Greek. He became a Catholic in 1847.
