Marian Dobmayer(Marian Dobmayer)

Um distinto teólogo beneditino, nascido em 24 de outubro de 1753, em Schwandorf, Baviera; falecido em 21 de dezembro de 1805, em Amberg, Baviera. Ele entrou primeiro na Companhia de Jesus e, após a sua supressão em 1773, juntou-se aos beneditinos no mosteiro de Weissenohe, Diocese de Bamberg, onde professou em 1775 e foi ordenado sacerdote em 1778. Foi sucessivamente professor de filosofia em Neuberg, Baviera (1781-87), de teologia dogmática e história eclesiástica em Amberg (1787-94) e de teologia dogmática e patrística na Universidade de Ingolstadt (1794-99). Na reorganização desta última escola em 1799, retornou ao seu mosteiro de Weissenohe, onde permaneceu até sua secularização. Em seguida, retirou-se para Amberg, onde ensinou teologia até sua morte. Em 1789, publicou em Amberg um "Conspectus Theologiæ Dogmaticæ". Sua obra principal é o "Systema Theologiæ Catholicæ", editado após sua morte por Th. P. Senestrey em oito volumes (Sulzbach, 1807-19). A obra é muito erudita e desprovida de toda dureza em suas partes controversas.

A distinguished Benedictine theologian, born 24 October, 1753, at Schwandorf, Bavaria; died 21 December, 1805, at Amberg, Bavaria. He first entered the Society of Jesus, and after its suppression in 1773 joined the Benedictines in the monastery of Weissenohe, Diocese of Bamberg, where he was professed in 1775, and in 1778 ordained priest. He was successively professor of philosophy at Neuberg, Bavaria (1781-87), of dogmatic theology and ecclesiastical history at Amberg (1787-94), and of dogmatic theology and patrology at the University of Ingolstadt (1794-99). On the reorganization of the latter school in 1799 he returned his monastery of Weissenohe, where he remained until its secularization. He them retired to Amberg, where he taught theology until his death. In 1789 he published at Amberg a "Conspectus Theologiæ Dogmaticæ". His chief work is the "Systema Theologiæ Catholicæ", edited after his death by Th. P. Senestrey in eight volumes (Sulzbach, 1807-19). The work is very learned and devoid of all harshness in its controversial parts.
